Organization structure

The Expertise Centre Independent Living is founded by people with disabilities themselves. You find more information in reading our mission statement and history.

Our team of professionals works in close collaboration to achieve the goals of the Expertise Centre.

The steering committee gathers every two months. This steering committee consists of delegates of the partner organisation.
The committee has the folowing functions:

• The steering committee will assess and adjust the project. 
• It will be competent to formulate position statements regarding the experiment with Personal Budgets (PGB) in Flanders.
• Each shareholder is responsible for his own personnel.

The user organizations participating in the Expertise Centre, our partners, are shareholders. This means that they also bring in expertise themselves and act as driving forces behind the scenes. Their share is described in a declaration of engagement and is determined in agreement with the existing shareholders and according to their capacities. The movement Onafhankelijk Leven (Independent Living) has been the principal shareholder from the start.
